It was a big day for Rotary South Chapter Members on Thursday June 15th.  At our regularly scheduled  lunch meeting, 14 local not-for-profit Agencies received grant funding from our Chapter.  In total our chapter raised and put TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS back into our community. These were proceeds of Annual Citrus Sale and through Wreaths Across America. Those agencies who received funding were:
  • Abraham Lincoln Council – Boys Scouts of America
  • Abraham Lincoln Memorials Gardens
  • Central Illinois Food Bank
  • Compass for Kids, Inc.
  • Douglas Alternative School – Springfield District 186
  • Girls on the Run of Central Illinois
  • Grace Lutheran Food Panty
  • Kumler United Methodist Church & Outreach Ministries
  • Lincoln Land Community College Foundation
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois
  • Senior Services of Central Illinois
  • Sojourn Shelter and Services, Inc.
  • Springfield Area Reading is Fundamental
  • Springfield Underwater Search & Rescue Team (SUSART)
To those in attendance today, we witness a group of unsung and often unnoticed volunteers and professionals who work in the human services area here in Central Illinois.  Many of these entities are ALWAYS seeking funding, and (help too!).  The people who staff these organizations are to be commended for their dedication and compassion. These agencies work for those who need help and these folks take care of them.  We salute them!

In our pictures here checks are being handed out by chapter member and funding chair Eloise Baird.  We thank her for all of her work not only for our chapter, but for her efforts with the Reading is Fundamental Program.
